(More about them: Our goal is to enrich lives in our neighborhood through educational, recreational, and social activities. Manchester Center was founded in 1940 by Ms. Frances VanMeter and other volunteers wishing to provide library services to the people of the Irishtown area. Over the years, Manchester Center has expanded its programs and is now a full-services community center servicing the residents of Lexington’s Irishtown, Davistown, Smithtown, Thompson Road Addition, and Speigle Heights neighborhoods. AUGUSTANA CONCERT
10,000 HOURS SHOW
YOU VOLUNTEER, YOU ROCK.
The United Way of the Bluegrass 10,000 Hours Show presented by W. Rogers Company is a year-round effort to engage young adults in volunteer service that culminates in a free concert. The only way to gain admission is to volunteer with local nonprofits.
The 10,000 Hours Show’s concert is a unique celebration of service that takes the best parts of “normal” concerts – great bands, great atmosphere, great times – and makes them better – an all-volunteer audience, a community saying thanks and performers who care.
The idea is simple…
Step 1. Register — it’s fast, easy and free. www.uwbg.org
Step 2. Volunteer a minimum of ten hours at the nonprofit agency of your choice between now and March 31, 2010.
Step 3. Hurry and log your hours online. Only 1,000 tickets to the show will be given away.
Step 4. Rock it out in April 2010 at a free concert.
It really is that simple. 1,000 people volunteering 10 hours — the 10,000 Hours Show. Because together we rock
